Description: |
The Limestone District School Board is undertaking a significant renovation at Rideau Heights Public School. The renovation will include a staged approach that will begin immediately upon the award of the contract and continue into October, with the majority of the work happening over the summer. Phase One – May and June The project will start in May, including the existing resource center, the existing vice principal's office and associated auxiliary spaces. These spaces will become the new main office. This successful contractor will provide a floor-to-ceiling hoarding separating the work site from the active school. Completing loud demolition and abatement outside of school hours, and less evasive work while the school is operational, the contractor will remove existing interior walls, build new walls, and install plumbing, mechanical and electrical connections in preparation for the summer work. Phase Two - July and August In phase two, the successful contractor will be provided with unrestricted access to the work area and roof areas that are to be replaced. Renovating the existing classroom 101 into a purpose-built special education room. Underpinning and excavating foundations in storage room 005 and modifying the existing structure in order to install an elevator. The contractor will install elevator shaft walls extending through storage room 005, classroom 112, and the existing roof to allow for the installation of an elevator and all associated mechanical. Roof replacement of the west wing of the school will be a priority as the existing daycare will be relocated for the month of July. The gym roof replacement is to follow consecutively. The contractor will also be responsible for removing existing lockers in the corridor and replacing them with shelves and hooks. The contractor must have the new administration areas and all classrooms, including the gym, ready to be occupied by the owner on August 22. Phase Three - September and October Upon completion of work that would affect the staff and students, the successful contractor will begin renovating the existing main office into a teacher’s workroom and additional meeting spaces to support the needs of students. |
